Frequently Asked Questions

What is Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Integrative therapists train in a number of different skills, ideas and key theoretical modes which they then tailor according to the individual needs of the client and the specific issues that they bring to the therapy room. This approach is rooted in the belief that every person is different and that counselling needs to reflect this.

As an integrative therapist, I believe that no two people are the same and therefore my work with you will be in response to you as a unique individual. The way that we work together will develop from our discussions and will be based on my response to your stated needs and wishes as well as my own professional judgement. I also believe that no matter how we work together, it is the therapeutic relationship that is of greatest importance.

What Happens When I Get in Touch?

When you contact me, we will arrange an initial assessment to discuss your situation and how we would work together.

Some people know exactly what they want from counselling, while others only know that they need to speak to someone who is not part of their family or circle of friends.

This first meeting is an opportunity for you to talk to me fully about your issues, ask questions and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable with me.

I am happy to refer you to another therapist or to discuss other options if either of us decides that I am not the right person for you .

How Many Sessions Will I Need to Have?

I offer either short-term counselling of around six to twelve sessions or open-ended work.

Short term counselling focuses on a specific problem, such as a recent major life event and for some people this is sufficient to resolve a particular issue.

Open-ended therapy is a deeper exploration of what is going on in your life.

At our initial meeting we will agree on an ideal time frame. We can then review this time frame at any point during the work, depending on how we feel we are progressing.

FEES

INDIVIDUALS: My fees start at £80 per session. I have a small number of reduced cost places for individuals who are unable to meet the usual fee.

COUPLES: My fees for couples start at £130 per session

What Are Your Times/Availability?

I offer early morning, daytime and evening appointments from Monday to Thursday. My first session starts at 8.00am and my last session starts at 7.00pm.

What Happens Next?

If you are unsure whether therapy is right for you then the best thing to do is to come for an initial assessment to get a sense of what it feels like to talk to me. During that session we can discuss together whether I am the right person for your needs.

If you would feel more comfortable speaking to me on the phone before arranging a session then you are welcome to call me on 07966 396199 or email me to arrange a brief telephone conversation to talk through your concerns.
